boundaries

Since the christmas break i have been struggling to grasp a direction to take my work. I knew i wanted to experiment with film and maybe installation as well as painting and drawing but i wasn't happy with the lack of a concept. After todays tutorial with Paul from Static gallery i had a burst of inspiration (thanks Paul), he said something like "art is just an extension of what you are thinking at the time". This made me realise that i didn't havr to have a groundbreaking concept i just need to keep practicing in a productive way to generate new ideas.

This is the start of new idea, it's about addressing and questioning boundaries in our cultivated society.

The first set of images are telling you what to do.

The second set of images are from a skateboarding/beer sesh inside a Tesco in liverpool city centre where you have to sneak past security to get in and use the space. It is a public car park and there is no problem with people using the space to walk to and from their cars and drive their cars about, but, as soon as someone starts using it in a recreational way e.g skateboarding it becomes a problem. Skateboarding is one activity that thinks and works outside the box of rules and regs the city inforces upon people.
